About MediationWorks

Jeremy Lawrence, MSoM

I set up MediationWorks to bring the experience I gained as a faith leader and pastor to help people navigate their ways through conflicts that can wear us all down.

There is no age or stage in life without its own challenges.  Often we can find ourselves in dispute with family members, neighbours, business partners or employers.  Sometimes the relationships that underpin our lives or our livelihoods go awry.

Many disputes are about the way things are or should be done - not things you can put a figure on - who owes who how much.

I have worked for 30 years with congregations, schools, charities, faith bodies, interfaith bodies and government departments.    I have been a classroom teacher, board member and honorary school principal.

I have met some remarkable leaders, medical ethicists, philosophers and diplomats.  I have known Holocaust survivors, war veterans and political prisoners.  I have met people who built lives from poverty and I have encountered people whose lives, whose health,  whose finances and whose security have collapsed.

People and their stories inspire me.

The creativity of conversation has often helped me find fresh insights - and has often helped us navigate unexpected solutions to seemingly intractable problems.

It is through these creative conversations that I have become convinced how well Mediation works.

I have a degree in Jurisprudence (St Catherine's College, Oxford University), studied Civil and Commercial Arbitration in Sydney.

I am a qualified and fully insured Mediator, a Member of the Society of Mediators and the Civil Mediation Council, certified in Civil & Commercial, Workplace & Employment and on the register for SEND mediations.

I volunteer in various Free and Community Mediation initiatives.

Through my work in Faith and Interfaith leadership, I have a background in the sensitive handling of faith-related disputes, where participants need a mediator, who understands the complexities of religious law and communities.
